Summary
Online Activity: Tuesday 1 December 2009 to Monday 14 December 2009
Face-to-face Activity: Tuesday 15 December 2009
This course is for tutors new to delivering Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) NQ, ESOL and NABs and those who would like to refresh their understanding. Through a series of online activities and a workshop we hope to develop a clear view of the design principles and structure of the SQA NQ and ESOL assessments and to share examples of best practice when using these in the classroom.
On the start date of the online activity an email will be sent to delegates with instructions on how to create an account with SQA Academy.
Online activities will be a mixture of articles to read, quizzes, discussion forums and reflection exercises. There should only be approximately two hours of online work to be done before the face-to-face workshop.
The SQA have developed the SQA Academy to extend and enhance the training and development opportunities available to those who contribute to the assessment processes that underpin the qualifications of the SQA.
To ensure that this ESOL course is developed to meet the needs of Scotland's 43 colleges, Scotland's Colleges have linked with the SQA Academy to combine their knowledge, skills and experience to create this staff development course.
The course uses a blended learning approach with both online and face-to-face learning activities. Delegates are provided with many opportunities to reflect on their learning and teaching practice in a supported environment whilst gaining accreditation for CPD hours. Throughout the course and beyond the focus is on the impact this professional development activity will have on the learners' experience in college.
