Summary
Online Activity: Thursday 7 January 2010 to Wednesday 20 January 2010
Face-to-face Activity: Thursday 21 January 2010
It has been a number of years since the introduction of internal assessment with National Units; in this time the initial advice given to centres has undoubtedly changed and with experience been modified. This course is aimed at all lecturers delivering internal assessments units in Mathematics to update them on the current advice given by Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). It will give an opportunity for lecturers to update knowledge of current marking and feedback advice, including what SQA will be looking for when a centre is moderated. There will also be an opportunity for lecturers to ask SQA staff questions.
On the start date of the online activity, an email will be sent to delegates with instructions on how to create an account with SQA Academy.
Online activities will be a mixture of articles to read, quizzes, discussion forums and reflection exercises. There should only be approximately two hours of online work to be done before the face-to-face workshop.
The SQA has developed the SQA Academy to extend and enhance the training and development opportunities available to all those who contribute to the assessment processes that underpin the qualifications of the SQA.
To ensure that this course is developed to meet the needs of Scotland's 43 colleges, Scotland's Colleges has linked with the SQA Academy to combine their knowledge, skills and experience to create this staff development course.
The course uses the blended learning approach with both online and face-to-face learning activities. Delegates are provided with many opportunities to reflect on their practice in a supported environment whilst gaining accreditation for CPD hours.
