Summary

SQA - Academy smallOnline Activity: Monday 18 January to Friday 29 January 2010
Face-to-face Activity: Monday 1 February 2010

This course has been developed to address the specific issues raised by those who are involved in the delivery, assessment and verification of PBNCs in Care (Mental Health Care, Play in Early Education and Childcare, Care Practice and Care Issues for Society).  SQA's examiners and colleagues from other colleges will be available to give guidance throughout the course.

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) has developed what is called the SQA Academy to extend and enhance the training and development opportunities available to all those who contribute to the assessment processes that underpin the qualifications of the SQA.

To ensure that this course is developed to meet the needs of Scotland's 43 colleges, Scotland's Colleges has linked with the SQA Academy to combine their knowledge, skills and experience to create this staff development course.

On the start date of the online activity, an email will be sent to delegates with instructions on how to create an account with the SQA Academy.

Online activities will be a mixture of articles to read, quizzes, discussion forums and reflection exercises. There should only be approximately two hours of online work to be done before the face-to-face workshop.

The course uses the blended learning approach with both online and face-to-face learning activities.  Delegates are provided with many opportunities to reflect on their learning and teaching practice in a supported environment whilst gaining accreditation for CPD hours. Throughout the course and beyond the focus is the impact this professional development activity will have on the learners' experience in college.
