Summary
"All progress occurs because people dare to be different", Harry Millner.
Cooperative learning is a well-researched and successful teaching strategy that:
- promotes student learning and academic achievement
- increases student retention
- enhances student satisfaction with their learning experience
- helps students develop skills in oral communication
- develops students' social skills
- promotes student self-esteem
- promotes positive race relations
- facilitates the intercultural approach to education
- embraces the values and purposes of Curriculum for Excellence (CfE)
In this one day event Cherry Hopton, Course Leader, Angus College will demonstrate how the intercultural approach has been successful at Angus College. She will introduce co-operative learning approaches and give ideas on how you can incorporate some of the strategies in your classroom immediately. She will also give information on how to apply for the Grundvig training with ICI. There is already a small group in Scotland who have completed the training and are starting to form networks.
Aim
- to inspire people in colleges to try new teaching techniques that will improve attainment and achievement at all levels
- to model a CfE classroom.
Please note that no refunds will be authorised unless cancellation is made in writing up to five working days prior to the event.
